Experience Canada in miniature through an outstanding collection of more than 3,000 stamps — every stamp ever issued in Canada! — and the fascinating stories behind them.

Ongoing exhibition

With three digital stations and mail-themed art on display, this exhibition is more informative and accessible than ever. From the Province of Canada’s 1851 Three-Penny Beaver stamp designed by Sir Sandford Fleming to the most recent issue, the Canadian Stamp Collection is the only place to view the entire national stamp collection in one location.

Use a touchscreen to zoom in on the stories behind featured stamps, with images and information linking them to artifacts in the Canadian Museum of History’s collections. Admire the stamps’ technical detail and beauty, and learn who designed, engraved, photographed and printed them.

Explore the intersection of art and written communication through a rotating display of paintings, sculptures and multimedia works, all drawn from the Museum’s collections, illustrating the theme of Artists Inspired by the Post.

Thanks to an ongoing partnership with Canada Post, the Canadian Stamp Collection expands with each year’s new stamp issue. Like the stamps, the approximately 150 digital stories will also increase over time.

The exhibition was developed by the Canadian Museum of History in collaboration with Canada Post.
