Her Majesty’s Stamps
Her Majesty’s Stamps
2009-2010: Special Exhibitions Gallery D
Her Majesty’s Stamps features more than 400 postage stamps from the Collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Housed in St. James Palace, the Collection is widely regarded as the finest of its kind in the world, private or public, containing many unique and very rare items often of unsurpassed quality.
The exhibition presents not only rare and beautiful stamps — including the world’s first postage stamp — but also stamp designs, proofs and colour trials, archival documents and caricatures. Included will be many stamps and proofs of early Canadian material, as well as other artifacts belonging to the Collection.
The Canadian Museum of Civilization is the sole Canadian venue for the exhibition.
The Canadian Postal Museum of the Canadian Museum of Civilization is extremely grateful to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for the loan of material from the Royal Philatelic Collection for this exhibition.
